Sunday mornings are casual and welcoming for young people, although maybe a little loud for the elderly. That's not really our target, though. There are plenty of churches that fit their needs already.Dina Sleimanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05214446103057806111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4405728521414052211.post-78828387433874654532010-10-19T14:29:12.198-07:002010-10-19T14:29:12.198-07:00Interesting and I do love this post.Personally, I ...Interesting and I do love this post.Personally, I think I am having an interesting church experience at this time as I am opening up our worship leader to new ideas in choir and also just for the congregation in general. I think it was interesting because for the first time in almost two months that I have been attending on Sunday there were hands raised in worship and tears were pouring down faces as we sang Amazing Grace My chains are gone I've been set free etc.
In this post modern culture I think we as the body of Christ have to find a way to draw in those that are seeking because we are all seeking something in reality whether we realize it or not.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4405728521414052211.post-13639448699118777982010-10-19T06:04:08.123-07:002010-10-19T06:04:08.123-07:00Well, Cheryl, as I guess you can see from my websi...Well, Cheryl, as I guess you can see from my website, I've been able to find churches that support worship dance as a ministry. In my area, worship dance is very popular. We have a "Dance Leaders Fellowship" and women come from all different denominations, including Mennonite, Baptist, Catholic, Presbyterian, etc...

I've found that the inclusion of dance is a great way to quickly take the sort of "spiritual temperature" of a church. If they forbid dance - legalistic, judgemental, withholding the good things of God. If they allow dance outside of church, maybe in Sunday School or VBS - open to the things of God, but not ready to dive right in. If they encourage dance, even if not many people take them up on it - actively seeking God and all he offers.

Probably the funniest thing I've seen in this area was when my son went to a Southern Baptist summer camp. The first time they sent us a list of optional classes, it said "worship dance." The second time they sent us the updated list it said, "foot praise." I thought that was hysterical. Someone must have complained about "dance" so they found a creative way around it. My son said the piece they did was a wonderful and free African sort of praise dance, so you can see their hearts were in the right place.Dina Sleimanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05214446103057806111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4405728521414052211.post-69789031105730253132010-10-19T05:39:51.049-07:002010-10-19T05:39:51.049-07:00Hi Dina,

Interesting stuff for sure.
I am so thankful that we have a personal God who wants to have a personal relationship with His creation.

Since we are made in His image we also desire to be creative in our expression of life and to make a difference.

I think that we miss out on some of the best of life here on Earth by limiting God, by not believing that He desires the best for us in the form of the fruit of the Spirit- love, joy, peace, etc.

So why would we want to live without expressing these things in every good way that we can?

I can't sing well, but I can dance! Why is one accepted but the other not?

I say, if you have a gift, USE IT!!! (and have fun)...Cheryl Klarichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12633250643087095689noreply@blogger.com
